These Terms and Conditions (the “Terms”) form a binding agreement between you and Matrimony.fr (“we”, “us”, “our”, the “Platform”), the operator of https://matrimony.fr. Please read them carefully, together with our Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy. By accessing or using the Platform, you accept these Terms in full. If you do not agree, you must not use the Platform.

1. Acceptance of Terms

By registering for, accessing, or using the Platform in any way, you confirm that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and by all policies referenced in them. These Terms apply to all visitors, registered members, and anyone who accesses the Platform on behalf of another person or a family member.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your country of residence, whichever is higher) to create an account or use the Platform. By using the Platform you represent and warrant that: (a) you are of legal age and have the legal capacity to marry; (b) you are legally free to seek marriage and are not prohibited from doing so under any applicable law; and (c) all information you provide is true and accurate. Registering on behalf of a son, daughter, or other relative is permitted only with that adult person’s knowledge and consent, and you accept these Terms on their behalf.

3. Nature of the Service

The Platform is an online introduction and matrimonial listing service only. We provide tools that allow members to publish a profile, search other profiles, and view traditional Tamil horoscope compatibility (porutham) information. We are not a marriage broker, matchmaker, dating agency, background-check service, or investigation service. We do not introduce specific individuals, negotiate or arrange marriages, vouch for any member, or guarantee that you will find a match, a partner, or a marriage. Any communication, meeting, engagement, or marriage that results is entirely the decision and responsibility of the members and their families.

4. Account Registration & Security

You register using Google sign-in (OAuth). You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality and security of the Google account used to access the Platform, and for all activity that occurs under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorised use. You may not share, sell, or transfer your account, create more than one account for the same person, or register using another person’s identity without authorisation.

5. Accurate Information & Profile Content

You agree to provide information that is truthful, accurate, current, and complete, and to keep it up to date. You are solely responsible for all content you submit, including your name, personal and family details, photographs, horoscope details, and partner preferences. You must not upload or publish content that is false, misleading, fraudulent, obscene, offensive, defamatory, discriminatory, unlawful, or that infringes the intellectual-property or privacy rights of any person. You must not publish another living person’s photograph or personal data without their permission. We may edit, hide, reject, or remove any profile or content that we believe, in our sole discretion, violates these Terms.

6. User Conduct & Prohibited Activities

You agree that you will not: (a) use the Platform for anything other than genuine, lawful matrimonial purposes; (b) harass, abuse, threaten, stalk, defraud, or impersonate any person; (c) solicit money, donations, gifts, investments, or financial or commercial favours from other members; (d) use the Platform for advertising, prostitution, trafficking, or any illegal or immoral activity; (e) collect, scrape, harvest, or store other members’ data, or use bots or automated tools; (f) attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the Platform, its servers, or its data, or interfere with its security or operation; (g) upload viruses or malicious code; or (h) violate any applicable local, national, or international law. Breach of this section may result in immediate termination and may be reported to the relevant authorities.

7. Safety, Fraud Warning & Assumption of Risk

We do not verify the identity, background, marital status, character, or intentions of any member. You interact with other members entirely at your own risk. You are strongly advised to exercise caution and common sense, especially when sharing personal information or communicating outside the Platform.

Fraud warning: Never send money, financial details, one-time passwords, or valuable items to anyone you meet through the Platform, no matter what reason is given. Be alert to “romance scams”, requests for emergency funds, visa or travel money, and any person who refuses to meet in person or by video. If you choose to meet another member in person, do so in a safe public place, inform a family member, and take appropriate precautions.

You acknowledge and agree that you assume all risk arising from your use of the Platform and from any contact, communication, meeting, relationship, or marriage with other members, and that we are not responsible or liable for the conduct, acts, or omissions of any member, whether online or offline.

8. Verification Is Your Responsibility

It is entirely (100%) the responsibility of you and your family to independently verify the identity, age, marital status, education, occupation, income, health, family background, horoscope, and any other details of any prospective match before proceeding with any communication, engagement, or marriage. We do not conduct, and are under no obligation to conduct, any background check, criminal check, or verification of any member or any information published on the Platform.

9. Horoscope & Compatibility Disclaimer

Horoscope and porutham compatibility information is based on traditional Tamil astrological methods and is provided for cultural guidance and informational purposes only. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or reliability of any astrological calculation or result, and such information must not be relied upon as the sole basis for any decision. You should consult qualified astrologers and family elders and make your own independent judgment. We accept no liability for any decision made on the basis of horoscope information.

10. Contact Access & Optional Features

The operator may offer optional features, including a “Contact Access” feature that allows eligible members to view the phone and WhatsApp numbers that other members have chosen to provide, for matrimonial purposes. Availability, duration, and any conditions of such features are set by the operator and may be changed, limited, or withdrawn at any time. Where a feature is offered free of charge, it may be modified or discontinued without notice. You remain responsible for the contact details you choose to publish; if you do not wish them to be visible to other members, do not enter them in your profile.

11. Content Licence & Intellectual Property

The Platform, including its design, text, graphics, logos, and software, is owned by or licensed to the operator and is protected by intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from the Platform without permission. By submitting content to the Platform, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, and use that content solely for the purpose of operating and providing the service (for example, showing your public profile to other members). You retain ownership of your own content and are responsible for ensuring you have the right to submit it.

12. Third-Party Links & Services

The Platform relies on third-party services (such as Google sign-in) and may contain links to third-party websites. We do not control and are not responsible for the content, policies, or practices of any third party. Your use of third-party services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies.

13. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Platform is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that the Platform will be uninterrupted, secure, error-free, or free of harmful components, that any information on it is accurate or reliable, or that any member is genuine, suitable, or will lead to a successful introduction or marriage. Any material downloaded or otherwise obtained through the Platform is accessed at your own discretion and risk.

14. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator and its owners shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, punitive, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of profits, data, goodwill, or reputation, arising out of or in connection with your use of (or inability to use) the Platform or your dealings with any member, whether based on contract, tort, negligence, or any other legal theory, even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages. In particular, we are not liable for the acts, omissions, conduct, misrepresentation, fraud, or offline behaviour of any member. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, our total aggregate liability to you shall be limited to the amount (if any) you have actually paid to us in the twelve (12) months preceding the event giving rise to the claim, or, where you have paid nothing, to a nominal sum. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited.

15. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless the operator and its owners, employees, and service providers from and against any claims, demands, losses, liabilities, damages, costs, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of or related to: your use of the Platform, your content, your interactions or dealings with other members, your breach of these Terms, or your violation of any law or of the rights of any third party.

16. Suspension & Termination

We may suspend, restrict, or terminate your account or access to the Platform at any time, with or without notice, if we believe you have breached these Terms, engaged in fraudulent, unsafe, or unlawful conduct, or where necessary to protect other members or the operator. You may stop using the Platform and delete your profile at any time from your dashboard. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination (including disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, and governing law) shall survive.

17. Privacy

Your use of the Platform is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which explains how we collect and process personal data. Please review it carefully.

18. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when they were last revised. Any changes take effect when published on this page, and your continued use of the Platform after that constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

19. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unlawful, void, or unenforceable, that provision shall be severed and the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.

20. Force Majeure

We shall not be liable for any failure or delay in providing the Platform caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including but not limited to acts of God, natural disasters, war, terrorism, civil unrest, strikes, failures of telecommunications or hosting providers, cyber-attacks, or governmental action.

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy and Cookie Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and the operator regarding the Platform and supersede any prior agreements or understandings. No failure to enforce any provision shall be deemed a waiver of that provision.

22. Governing Law & Jurisdiction

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of France, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to any mandatory consumer-protection rights you may have in your country of residence, the courts of Paris, France shall have jurisdiction over any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Platform.
